The Catalan/Spanish animated TV series The Triplets (or Les tres bessones, or Las tres mellizas) follows the adventures of a trio of triplet sisters who, upon annoying a witch, get thrown into various famous stories. There, the triplets get involved in the plot with various little twists. In the show's version of The Little Mermaid, the triplets meet the prince first, who tells them that he's engaged to a princess he's never met and doesn't want to marry. The sisters decide to help him find a new girlfriend, and pin their hopes on the little mermaid, who rescues the prince from drowning in a storm.
As a bittersweet change for this story, the misunderstanding central to the story is pinned on the triplets. That is, the triplets misunderstand when the prince says he wants to marry the girl who saved him, and the little mermaid doesn't even seem that interested in the prince until triplets who convince her that the prince will fall in love her. It's with their encouragement that the little mermaid seeks out the (sea) witch and trades her voice for a legs.
Another little change of note is that although in this version the witch does give the little mermaid a chance to return to the ocean, it's not a dagger she gives her, but a potion that will make the prince sleep forever.
